Ken Wave is bulk carrier built in 2010 by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding with deadweight of 56,104 metric tons. The ship is having overall length of 189.99 meters and length between perpendiculars of 182.00 meters. The beam of the ship is 32.25 meters and the draft, when the ship is fully loaded can reach 12.69 meters. The bulk carrier Ken Wave is having gross tonnage of 31,759 gross tons and cargo capacity for more than 70,000 cubic meters, which is providing large profits for the owner. The bulk carrier was built in the Chiba Works Shipyard, which is one of the best Asian workplaces for building of large vessels. The builders installed quality and reliable engine Mitsui-MAN B&W 6S50MC-C , which is providing total power of 9,070 kW at 125 rpm . The main engine is quite high revolutions for ship engine, but

having low fuel consumption and giving pretty large service speed of 14.5 knots. The main engine is complies with all the requirements of MARPOL and IMO for low CO2 emissions and provide s high number of flexibility . The ship is designed to be from Handymax type and is part of the series of Mitsui , which are highly appreciated on the market and orders are flying to the shipbuilder. Ken Wave is made according to IACS Common Structural Rules designed with hull shape to de effective and fuel saving. The main engine is designed to have low fuel consumption and how lub oil consumption, based on high effective propulsive performance . The bulk carrier Ken Wave has 5 cargo hold and all of them are designed to be proper for different cargoes even heavy cargoes. The holds have high strength of the hatches for reliable carrying of cargoes through the oceans all over the world. The ship Ken Wave is very modern and has everything to give high profits for the ship-owner and ship-operator. The bulk carrier has large cargo capacity for the size and measurements. This is quite important for the years of financial crisis, when the whole maritime transport is one of the sectors, which were mostly hurt from the world business.

The bulk carrier Cape Canary is one of the latest products of Asian Shipbuilding, constructed and finished by Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation. The vessel has overall length of 292.00 meters and length between perpendiculars of 288.00 meters. The beam of the bulk carrier Cape Canary is 45.00 meters and depth is 24.70 meters. These measurements are showing the size of the vessel and we can easily imagine the vision and the capacity of the vessel. The ship Cape Canary has deadweight of 182,557 metric tons, while the gross tonnage is 93,235 gross tons. When the ship is fully loaded the draft can reach 18.20 meters. The ship is really large and such giant is in need of reliable and strong engine. The main engine of the Cape Canary is Kawasaki-MAN B&W 6S70MC-C (Mk7) , which is engine from newest generation with low fuel consumption and high reliability.

The main engine has power of 17,780 kW, which are giving the ability for the ship to sail with 15.3 knots. The main engine has improved structure and features. The main engine is giving low fuel consumption, due to more efficient propulsion system. The propeller is specially designed by Kawasaki to provide higher speed on low rpm. The ship Cape Canary is built according to latest requirements of IMO and MARPOL having large capacity, strong structural construction and high safety level. The ship Cape Canary is property of Line Bulk Shipping (UK) Limited and was launched on March 2010. The ship is high quality and having most modern systems for cargo handling and operations. The Performance Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC) is introduced for the developments of the quality of coatings . This provides preventive measures against aging of the ballast tanks. The fuel tanks are having double hull construction is case to prevent the ship from pollution. The ship is Cape Canary is really one of the newest and most modern ships built in Asia. The ship is quality and showing the development of Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation.

m/v Berge Stahl

Name: Berge Stahl
Type: Bulk Carrier
Lenght: 343 m
Beam: 65 m
Draft: 23 m
Deadweight: 364,767 m.t.
Year: 1986
Speed: 13.5 kn
Engine: Hyundai B&W
Power: 27,610 hp

Do you wonder what is looking the largest bulk carrier vessel built ever. That definitely is MS Berge Stahl. The ships is part of the fleet of Bergesen d.y. ASA. The flag of the ship is in Stavanger, Norway. This is a little bit strange, because it was previously registered in Monrovia, Liberia, but with changing of ship-owners they changed the flag too. The ship MS Berge Stahl is designed to carry iron in bulk. Her deadweight is a 364,767 m.t. and has a length of 343 m. The enormous ship has a width of 65 m and its draft is 23m. The vessel was built in 1986 in the ship-yard of Hyundai Heavy Industries.

So big ship should has a heavy engine, which should give to it enough power to made this weight go through water. The main engine is Hyundai B&W 7L90MCE with power of 27,610 horse powers, which is nearly 20.59 MW. The top speed of MS Berge Stahl is 13.5 knots. Interesting about the heavy unit is that only the rudder is 9m in height and the main engine has the measurements of 9x9 meters.
Due to its large lenght and width and also due to its big draft, when it is fully loaded the ship can handle in only two ports of the world. That is why the ship is making courses to Europort in Rotterdam, from the Terminal Maritimo de Ponta da Madeira in Brazil. Even in these ports it takes a lot of time to be maintained this ship and in some cases in low water it can go aground. In the world there are also some ports that are taking this ship, but they are reducing the weight of the ship in the bay and just after that it is coming in.
But this ship is wonderful and very beautiful with its large size and its large deadweight. I like it very much and I'm sure you will like it too. MS Berge Stahl is one of the wonders of engineer plan and one of the man made wonders of the world ever.
